This place shouldn't be as good as it is. It's cafeteria-style dinning with a slightly higher end flair. Items like the prime rib are surprisingly good. Prices are higher than across the street in the mall food court but it is likely a little lower than it should be for real whipped potatoes, fresh Lion House rolls and honey butter. My kids enjoy coming and I don't mind eating in the cellar of the historic Lion House when we are in town. Avoid special days like concerts or temple square events. The place gets packed and the trade off on your time is not worth the visit.

After touring temple square and listening to the Tabernacle organ concert, we decided to stop by for lunch before touring the Beehive House. Upon entering, the kids were not thrilled with the posted menu. Luckily that was not the whole menu. They offer two kid's meal options - Chicken strips and cheese pizza that are not on the menu in the first room. Each kid tried a different option and both were very happy. The adults tried the BBQ pork chops and the steak. Both were very well cooked. The steak was cooked medium well and the pork chops were so juicy inside. I love history and having a chance to eat in the very same dining area that Brigham Young and LDS leaders and Utah's early leaders ate at was, well, historic.

Cafeteria style options - very filling - clean. Contrary to what you see, you do not have to wear a white shirt and black trousers to eat here! ;-)

Visiting from out of state having lunch in Brigham's house at The Lion House. This is good comfort food. Set up is cafeteria sytle and all self service. Today serving four main entrees: meatloaf, pork pot pie, lions house salmon, chicken and sides with several delicious desserts to choose from and not to forget about their famous rolls with honey butter that takes it to another level of tastiness. I also had a regular green salad which had a surprise bed of green peas at the bottom, that was a first for me. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes were hearty.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat while visiting Temple Square and I'm glad I did. Just beneath the home of Brigham Young is a great cafeteria style of American food that can be enjoyed after visiting the museum upstairs. Although, I can't give a full review of the food I can tell you that the hot rolls with honey butter and deserts well worth the visit. By all means if visiting the area from out of town as I was make sure that you don't miss this pantry of delicious food!!

I came here as part of a city tour stop. Our tour guide had raves about the amazing rolls and their honey butter so I decided to try them for myself. Upon entry there is a board with several choices you can select from. I decided on the bbq pulled pork sandwich. The food is very similar to cafeteria style however the person behind the counter is the one that does most of the plating for you. After I got my entree I was able to choose a side either mashes potatoes or rice. I chose to get rice. Then I was able to choose a vegetable side between zucchini or broccoli. I chose the zucchini. At that point you are given your tray of food and can select the rest of the items yourself. I already had a drink so I skipped that section but had a hard time deciding on a dessert as many looked really good. I initially chose jello but then changed my mind and got a cheesecake. At the end I was also able to add on one of their infamous rolls, however I got it without the honey butter as I am allergic to honey. The food was VERY reasonably priced and all tasted delicious! I'm not quite sure why this place doesn't have higher reviews. Will definitely be back!
